I can’t believe it’s already June! I’ve been so busy with client projects and consultations that I haven’t had a chance to post anything, anywhere this month. I also started with a personal trainer and after she has finished kicking my butt twice a week, I’m just too tired to even move off the couch let alone attempt to write anything that makes sense!

I’ll be sharing some of my new projects soon, but for now here’s my Like, Love, and Share of the week.

Pinterest’s Buy Button debuts this month! Now your favourite app just got better, or should I say more dangerous;) For me this new feature will make it so much easier for my e-design clients to purchase the products I recommend. Yay!

What’s New, What’s Next: 5 Hot Décor Trends, Straight from the ‘Runway’: Apartment Therapy lists the 5 hottest decor trends they noticed at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in NYC last month. While I’m not sure if I’m keen on an 80’s Renaissance, I am loving that there is still a focus on handmade products and that they are still drawing attention at these trend setting shows.

 

From NYC to Toronto: Last week I attended the Canadian Furniture Show at the International Center. This was my first time attending this show so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m pretty sure it was nothing like the one in NYC.  However, there was a lot of great vendors showing  some new products and collections, so here’s a few fun things that catch my eye…

Brass is still going strong, but I’ve been seeing it get more shiny lately. Could it be because of that whole 80’s Renaissance thing that’s trending?

This fixture would look beautiful over a table in a dining room with very high ceiling in an open concept space like a loft.

Toronto Designer, Jo Alcorn, debuted her new furniture line at this years show. I just loved how she styled the space and her choice in fabrics.

This wall of wool throws from Sweden was one of my favourite finds at the show.

A new twist to the ordinary coffee table. This one featured drawers finished in different woods. Very cool.

Distressed wood was a common trend seen in many of the booths at the show. I liked how this one took it to a different level with paint.

There were also many art vendors at the show. This piece was one of my favourite pieces and I would love to use it in a future girl’s bedroom or a dining room design.

Can you believe that this chair is actually a glider! The center glides while the base stays stationary. Brilliant!

The International Center is also home to SOFA – A trades only design center filled with beautiful showrooms for designers to see products in person. One of my favourite showroom is Van Gogh’s Designs. Their furniture vignettes are always so beautifully styled.

More from Van Gogh’s. I think these soft ottomans would be fun in a playroom in a child friendly fabric. And I just love the use of contrasting piping on the sofa. It’s these little details that take an ordinary sofa to the next level.

And last, but not least, this giraffe painting stoled my heart. It would be just perfect in a gender neutral nursery don’t you think? See it full size here.
